About the Director


Elizabeth Jimenez is the orchestra director at Canyon View Junior High School and Oak Canyon Junior High School. She is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in music education and a performer’s certificate in violin performance. She also served as the vice president of USC’s student chapter of ASTA, the American String Teacher’s Association. In addition to teaching in the Alpine School District, Elizabeth conducts with the Utah Valley Youth Symphony and plays with the Utah Valley Symphony.
Elizabeth was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. She began her musical education playing piano at the age of 7. She joined her middle school orchestra program in 6th grade to learn violin. Through the Lassiter High School Orchestra program, she was able to participate in competitions and orchestral exhibitions such as the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, the American String Teachers National Orchestra Festival in Dallas, Texas, and the Georgia Music Educator’s Conference.
During high school, Elizabeth studied privately under Sou Chun Su, assistant principal of the Atlanta Symphony. She also studied with solo performer Dr. William Terwilliger, and with Mr. Ryan Kho, concertmaster of the Augusta, GA symphony. In addition, she participated with the USC String Project and studied with Dr. Gail Barnes.
